You may have noticed we put up a new collection today, the London collection.  This compilation of images was curated with you in mind, our inspirational loyal fans.  With the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony only a few days away on July 27, the residents of London and all the Olympic Athletes from around the world are preparing for the big games.  As we sit back and watch the competitions from the comfort of our home, we are reminded to dream big.  All these Olympians set out for something amazing and beautiful in life, they didn't take the easy way out, they followed their dreams. As you scroll through this collection filled with rich history and beauty, remember to Keep Calm and Carry On.

We recently launched work from one of our new exclusive artists, Fatmir Gjevukaj. Fatmir considers himself a traditional artist. Here is a quote from Fatmir: "My love for movies and comic books since my early childhood and my interest and focus which has always been on creatures and characters made me enter the world of cg art five years ago, and that's what I have been doing pretty much ever since." This definitely shows in his artwork. We love all the bright vivid colors and characters he paints! Be sure to check out all of his artwork on Gallery Direct! And here's a sneak peek at the latest work he's dropped off with us. Currently working on the digital files in our Imaging Department...

Images of our flag evoke a feeling inside all of us.  I always take the 4th of July to reflect on the amazing grace of this country.  I have the privileged to be working at one of the very best American art companies in Austin, Texas.  Not only because Gallery Direct is in one of the coolest cities in America, but because EVERYTHING is made in the United States. From our suppliers, the materials, to the frames, the printers, and our partners, we can proudly stamp on every fine image published, our Made in the USA sticker.

This could easily be reinterpreted in many ways with women or men in all kinds of outfits, however you do it I like the picture it paints.

While no faces are involved in either of these I think the creative use of hands from different generations would make a striking piece of art that would start many conversations in your home.

I love this wedding photo idea and wish I had done it on my wedding day!

And of course the show Modern Family made this popular, but it is still lots of fun!
Last but not least this one would take some photo editing skills, but the finished effect is very cool! Have you ever thought of creating a great generational photo piece of art? You can find Ellen blogging daily at Thrifty & Chic Mom.
For some reason people seem genuinely afraid to get art printed on anything other than canvas. They know canvas and so it is a safe choice, but is it the best choice? Gallery Direct offers some amazing out of the box options for your art that truly bring your pieces to life in new and amazing ways. My favorite pieces in my home, and the ones that get the most attention, are not on canvas they are on aluminum and acrylic and mirror. Canvas is beautiful and a great option but take a look at how your art can really pop when you try a new media! Aluminum: Aluminum has the ability to make water sparkle and lights glitter in a way canvas can not, check out this example at Go Graham Go and this one at Thrifty & Chic Mom. Acrylic: Acrylic is a great option for a kitchen or eating area as it is easy to clean, check out this great acrylic at Better in Bulk as well as this acrylic piece. Birchwood: Birchwood gives your art great texture and a more earthy feel. Check out these great birchwood pieces at The Mom Reviews and Stuff Parents Need. Mirror: Art on mirror is a great way to elevate a room and add more elegance as well as more light. Here are some great examples of art on mirror at My Four Monkeys and Thrifty & Chic Mom. Check out all of these great examples and then consider ordering your art on something other than canvas.

So yesterday marked the first day of summer! People take advantage of the warmer temperatures by spending more time outdoors during the summer. Activities such as traveling to the beach and picnics occur during summer months. Here at Gallery Direct I work in a room with no windows, it's for a good reason though, I can't have any light from the windows shining on the art I am working on in the imaging department. So I can't gaze out the window to see the beautiful summer blooms or see the summer breeze rustling the leaves on the trees. But that's okay, from the photo above doesn't it look like summertime in the imaging department!? Lots of beautiful, bright, vivid colors. Found a summer vocabulary word list, here are a few words: berries, daisy, flowers, fresh fruit, gardening, grass, hot, June, outdoors, picnic, relax, rose, season, sunny, visit, warm weather, watermelon. Some of those words come to mind working in my windowless room, thanks to the incredibly beautiful art I get to work with.

Did you know that Gallery Direct is on Pinterest? If you haven't started following our boards be sure to start doing so now! We have a "Pin It To Win It" board with your chance to win free art. I've been a Pinterest user for awhile now. I love the ideas, creativity and inspiration I can draw from Pinterest. One person I love to follow on there is Jessica Colaluca with Design Seeds. She has a passion for color (something we have here at Gallery Direct too!) and shares her color palettes that she journals from photos of art, architecture, nature, food, animals...you name it. So if you are having trouble coming up with interior color schemes for you home, you surely can get some inspiration from Design Seeds. And here is the thing, don't just stop at painting your walls these colors use the color palettes to help you find art! If you don't already know, you can search and browse through our art per color palette. Here are some examples of Design Seeds palettes I choose to inspire me in finding some Gallery Direct art...
